What parents say

In their words

I like how training at Sunshine Coast Karate is teaching my kids that they are in charge of their own success. Only through commitment, determination and effort will they achieve their goals. Whatever they choose to put in, they reap the benefits of ten folds in confidence, inner strength and self-esteem. It has been so good to watch them grow through karate for the past 5 years. Thank you for all you do SCK!

Matt C. Parent

Our son has been part of the Sunshine Coast Karate community for 4 years now. It has taught him focus, strength, discipline, and has instilled him with confidence in all aspects of his life and his development of sense of self. Now that he is a little older and committed to his karate, his leadership skills are also being nurtured by the amazing team at SCK. This is a place that develops the whole child and we feel immense gratitude for this inspiring influence in our son’s life.

Vicki D. Parent

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to all the staff at Sunshine Coast Karate, we have loved every minute and felt so welcomed.

My son found it difficult to find an activity he wanted to stick with or enjoyed as quite shy and nervous starting something new, however he just loves going to Karate and always has a smile on his face.

Renae R. Parent

I really like how the lessons change every week. We do lots of different activities during training and I can also learn online when I log in which I really like as well.

Jackson K. Student

We have been with SC Karate for almost a decade… first starting with our eldest (started age 7, ages now 16) and we’ve just signed up our youngest at 6 years old. We are so happy to be part of this beautiful karate family and watched so many kids and teens grow up alongside our daughter. The owners/instructors are so amazing – we love our dojo!

Nina M. Parent

Let’s face it, being a parent is a tough job. I was so lucky to find Sunshine Coast Karate, who have been the most amazing and supportive coaches for my children and I for 18 years now.

As 5th Dan instructors and world champions of the Chito-Ryu style of karate, Senseis Martin and Sandra, teach karate with great skill, positive encouragement and in an energetic, motivating and fun environment. They are also subtle and influential partners in developing those positive values and real life skills which are fundamental to successfully navigating that transition from teenager to young adult.

Their learning for life philosophy grounded in personal challenge, team participation, physical and spiritual wellbeing, developed innate values of leadership, courage, respect, loyalty and resilience throughout my children’s primary and high school years.

Most notably these qualities were exhibited during those difficult teenage years. My children shared their knowledge and experience respectfully and patiently with older and younger karate students, even with their very nervous white belt mum when I began my karate. They stood up for what they thought was right and to school bullies, both for themselves and others. They proudly represented their state and country in competition, by having the spirit to participate and experience, not win at all costs. And most importantly built the fortitude and resilience to make their way through life’s challenges with a healthy serve of self-esteem and independence.

I continue my karate4life journey, knowing my children respect, value and practice the philosophy and skills developed, as part of their membership of the Sunshine Coast Karate family.

If you are looking for something to help manage the stress, uncertainty and frustrations of the modern world for your children, I can certainly testify and recommend Sunshine Coast Karate will make a positive difference to their, and your, health, wellbeing and future.

Questions

Questions parents ask

Anything else you’d like to know? Give us a call, we’re happy to help.

What do I get with the Black Friday offer?

Join by Monday 30 November and $49 covers unlimited training until our last class of the year on Saturday 19 December. You also get a free uniform and no joining fee, a $120 saving. Your next payment isn’t due until classes resume on Monday 4 January.

What happens after Saturday 19 December?

The dojo is closed from Sunday 20 December to Sunday 3 January. Classes resume on Monday 4 January, and from then training continues on our standard membership. We’ll explain the options at your trial, with no lock-in.

Is the Black Friday offer for current students?

It’s for new students joining Sunshine Coast Karate. If you already train with us, share this page with a friend or family member who’d like to start.

Will karate make my child aggressive?

No. If anything, it has the opposite effect. Karate begins and ends with respect for yourself, for others and for your surroundings. Over time, most children become more respectful, more caring and more patient.

Do I have to sign up for a long time?

Not at all; the choice is yours. After your trial we’ll explain the options. You can start with a fortnightly option you can cancel at any time, or commit for 12 months to save on your fees.

My child needs help with behaviour. Can karate help?

Yes. Self-control is one of the things karate builds. Like any new habit, it takes a little practice.

My child needs to focus more at school. Will this help?

Yes. In time you’ll notice a positive change. Local teachers and parents often tell us how a child’s focus and behaviour have improved at school.

My child is shy. Can they start with a friend?

Yes. Training with a friend or family member is a great idea. It gives a little comfort in the early days, and you keep each other going.

How does the free trial work?

Book online and choose a class. We’ll be in touch to confirm your first class and answer any questions. When you come in, we’ll explain how to join and the membership options. Join on the day and we’ll waive the joining fee and give you a free uniform.
