About Us
Sunshine Coast Karate is a family owned and operated karate school, which is also the South East Queensland headquarters for the traditional Chito-Ryu style of Karate-do. Sunshine Coast Karate was originally established in 2000, when founding instructors, Martin & Sandra Phillips relocated from Newcastle, NSW.
For the first few years, classes were held in various community hall locations across the central Sunshine Coast, including: Maroochydore, Bli Bli, Kawana Waters, Coolum and Buddina. In 2003, a fully equipped, full-time training facility was established in Maroochdyore in order to better service the ever growing membership.
