The Sensei Sam Club Just Got Bigger!

Over the weekend, we celebrated a very special milestone as Sensei Sam Hunt graded to his first instructor level, Jun-Shidoin.

Since joining Sunshine Coast Karate in 2013, Sensei Sam has dedicated himself to growth both in and out of the dojo.

For some time now he’s been assisting with our Thursday adult classes, he has proudly represented Australia on the world stage three times (2017, 2019 & 2023), and for many years he has generously served as secretary of our local committee.

This next step (Jun-Shidoin) — more than 12 years in the making — reflects his dedication, commitment, and passion for helping others on their journey.

Check out the photos taken after grading — with Sensei Sami right by his side, celebrating together.

We’re looking forward to the day when all of Queensland’s Sensei Sams can come together at future events.

Congratulations once again, Sensei Sam — this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter!

Next stop… Sandan and Shidoin levels. We’re excited to be walking alongside you as you explore the senior levels of Chito-Ryu Karate.
