There’s something special about training at 6am in summer. The air is still cool, the day hasn’t started asking things of you yet, and by 7am you’ve already done something good for yourself.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, our early morning class meets in the dojo from 6 to 7am. It’s open to teens and adults, and beginners are very welcome.
Why train at 6am?
On the Sunshine Coast, summer days heat up quickly. Training first thing means you move while it’s still comfortable, then get on with your day.
Our early risers tell us they love finishing by 7am and heading off to work, uni or school feeling awake and energised. For many, it’s the one hour of the day that’s just for them: no screens, no to-do list, just what’s in front of you.
Fitness, strength and flexibility build over time, at your own pace. What you feel straight away is a clearer head and a good start to the day.
Come as you are

Most people have a few questions before their first class. Here are the ones we hear most, and the honest answers.
Too old or unfit? Not at all. You train at your own pace, and every class is adapted to what your body needs that day.
The only beginner? Every black belt in our dojo started as a white belt. You’ll be welcomed and looked after.
Intimidating? Traditional karate is built on respect. Our classes are friendly, supportive and controlled.
No time? Tuesday and Thursday, 6–7am. Done before work.
Who teaches the class
Classes are taught by Sensei Martin and Sensei Sandra, who have been welcoming beginners on the Sunshine Coast since 2000.

How to start
Your first lesson is free. Book a time online, then come along in comfortable clothes, like a t-shirt and track pants, with a water bottle. We train in bare feet.
Join on the day of your trial and we’ll waive the joining fee and give you a free uniform.
If you’d like to give it a try, you can book your free class here, or call or text 0435 255 323. We’d love to see you in the dojo.
