In their words

What our students say

Starting at Sunshine Coast karate has been one of the best things I have done . It has brought a whole new mentality and positive outlook on life whilst learning one of the oldest forms of karate.

SCK has helped me deal with anxiety and stresses that life can bring. Training here helps build confidence and inner strength of which have been fundamental to me starting my own business 2 yrs ago.

Both Sensei Martin and Sensei Sandra are highly skilled and amazing people with heaps of knowledge to share! Watching them perform karate is mind blowing and also a testament to them of what can be achieved.

I could not recommend SCK enough, great place to meet people, have fun and train hard.

Ian R. Student

Training at the SC Karate dojo has helped me a lot with my sciatica, provides me with creative and fun ways to keep up with my stretches and exercises prescribed by my physio. At the same time it gives me an opportunity to train alongside my children which we all absolutely love and have fun with.

Maureen K. Student

I started training at Sunshine Coast Karate some 7ish years ago and I can’t imagine my life without it. Sensei Sandra and Martin have created the most wonderful family at the dojo. No matter what you will always be encouraged to learn, and challenge yourself to grow. Even if I never did martial arts again in my life, the mental fortitude and growth taught by Martin and Sandra Sensei will aid me for the rest of my adult life. I am forever grateful to my parents for bringing me to such a lovely community to have spent my teenage years. And to Sensei Sandra and Martin for continuing to put up with me 😛

Jacqui L. Student

Training with SCK has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself and my family. The community is so supportive and our teachers are very inspiring. Learning karate has changed how I see myself and the world, I can not recommend SCK dojo enough!

Melanie F. Student

I love practicing at Sunshine Coast Karate ❣️Teachers there are great people! They teach us not only skills but nice manners. I am with them almost 6 years and still loving it❣️😊

Rika T. Student

I started karate in my early 60s thanks to Sensei Martin and Sandra for letting me have a go.  I just passed the 5yr mark, wow time goes quick.  It’s been like a second home for me as I can come to class have a laugh and get stuck in to some serious training.  Training has helped me so much, posture, breathing, flexibility and much more.  It’s been slow and steady for me but I’ve loved every lesson.  Every lesson is different.  Any body that wonts to start karate don’t let age stop you.  You can’t go past Sunshine Coast karate.  You won’t be disappointed.

Questions

Questions families ask

Anything else you’d like to know? Give us a call, we’re happy to help.

Do I have to train with my child?

Only if you’d like to. You’re welcome to join in with Little Champions and Karate Kids, stay and watch, or take some time for yourself while they train. It’s up to you.

My kids are different ages. Can they all come on Saturday?

Yes. Classes run one after the other: Little Champions at 8:40am, Karate Kids at 9:30am and Teens & Adults at 10:30am.

My child is shy. Will they be OK?

Many little ones feel braver with Mum or Dad beside them for the first few classes. You’re welcome to join in until they’re ready to fly solo.

We have Saturday sport too. Can we come some weeks?

Of course. Classes also run during the week, so you can train whichever days suit.

Do we need any experience?

No. Most of our students started as complete beginners, and every class is adapted to where you’re at.

Do I need to be fit to join in?

No. Fitness, strength and flexibility are things karate builds over time. You go at your own pace.

What should we wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and track pants, and a water bottle. We train in bare feet.

Can we book a free trial for the whole family?

Yes. You can book everyone in the same booking, and each person’s first lesson is free.
