Everything you need is here before your first Sunshine Coast Karate class in Maroochydore.
Maybe you’re here because…
- your child is shy, restless, or needs something that builds them up
- you want to get fit, but the gym has never stuck
- you’ve always wanted to try karate and wondered if it’s too late
You’re in the right place. Walking into a dojo for the first time can feel daunting. Will I keep up? Will my child fit in? Almost everyone who trains with us felt that way on day one, so here’s everything you need to know before you come.
Choosing the right class
Which class is right for you at Sunshine Coast Karate?
- Little Champions (ages 4 to 7): skills for life, disguised as a whole lot of fun.
- Karate Kids (ages 8 to 12): confidence, focus and respect, built one class at a time.
- Teens (13 and up): sharpen your mind and body and find your people.
- Adults and over 50s: get fitter, ease stress and learn real self-defense. It’s never too late to start; we have students who began in their 60s.
Parents are welcome to train alongside their children in Little Champions and Karate Kids.
What happens at your first sunshine coast karate class?
Your first lesson is free. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, such as a t-shirt and shorts or track pants. We train barefoot, so bring shoes for the car park, and a water bottle is a good idea. No experience or fitness is needed; our instructors adjust every class to each student’s level. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area.
What it costs
We have flexible membership options to suit your family and how often you’d like to train, including fortnightly memberships you can cancel any time, and family discounts. We’ll talk you through the options after your free trial, with no pressure.
Who you’ll be training with
We’re Sandra and Martin. We’ve been teaching here in Maroochydore since 2000, and we’re both world champions and master instructors. We’re helped on the floor by our senior students and young leaders, so every class gets plenty of hands-on attention and every student has someone to look up to.
