As 2026 draws to a close, the countdown is on! On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 December, we’re hosting our final Kobujyutsu and Brown & Black Belt Seminars of the year, and we can’t wait. 🎉
The idea is simple: one year, one lesson. What’s yours? We’re inviting each of our seniors to reflect on what 2026 taught them, in the dojo and beyond, and to bring it along to share.
Every journey is different
No two journeys to black belt (and beyond) look the same. Some of our seniors started as children and grew up in the dojo. Others found karate later in life. Some have trained through injuries, busy careers, growing families and big life changes. Different starting points, different challenges, different breakthroughs, and every one of those journeys holds lessons worth sharing.
Sharing the floor
Sensei Martin will lead the senior seminar, and our black belts are invited to share a segment from their year: a key learning, a breakthrough, or an experience that shaped their 2026. It’s a chance for our seniors to learn from each other, and to be reminded just how much they matter to our dojo.
Then our brown and black belts will step up to teach alongside Sensei Martin in our final Family Class of the year, inspiring our next generation of leaders. Our younger students look up to our seniors more than they know, and finishing the year side by side is something special.
The weekend at a glance
- Friday 18 December, 6–8pm: Kobujyutsu weapons, a final review of everything before we wrap up 2026 (brown & black belts)
- Saturday 19 December, 7:00am: Senior seminar (brown & black belts)
- Saturday 19 December, 9:00–10:30am: Family class (all students, all levels)
- Saturday 19 December, 11:00am: Brown & black belt gradings
